More women from Hong Kong were seeking husbands in Shenzhen lately, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Thursday.
According to a match-making agency in Shenzhen, about 20 percent of the 100 Hong Kong residents who had filled in forms seeking marriage partners were women.
One woman surnamed Wang, 39, said it was difficult to find Mr. Right in Hong Kong where 25 percent of the women had the same problem. Wang is a successful woman who owns several apartments in Hong Kong.
Most Hong Kong women seeking marriage in Shenzhen are well-educated and with successful careers. They are either senior employees at multinationals or even vice presidents of companies.
Women seeking marriage are between 40 and 60 years old, and their criteria are generally lower than the requirements of Shenzhen women who are also seeking marriage through match-making agencies. They do not care about a potential husband’s job background or their residency status and financial backgrounds and salaries are also not a consideration. Instead, good personality is their prime concern in selecting a husband, who also is expected to have a stable job and earn his own living.
Zhang, 42, vice president of a Hong Kong company, said she divorced a few years ago. She has been looking for a faithful and well-educated spouse, but has never met him. She changed her mind to lodge an application with match-making agencies in Shenzhen.
