Chinese martial arts epic House of Flying Daggers was named Best Foreign Film of the Year by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA).

An award from this prestigious association will give Flying Daggers a good chance of doing well at next year's Oscars.
   
LAFCA Best Picture of the Year went to Sideways, a comedy about mismatched best friends on a wine-tasting road trip. The film also won awards for best director, best screenplay, best supporting actor and best supporting actress.
   
All trophies will be awarded on 13th January.
