Chinese pop singer Wei Wei has been named this year's Global Outstanding Woman by fashion authorities and culture experts from around the world, China Radio International reported Monday.
The honor has been given in recognition of the special contributions she has made to the Chinese sports industry and entertainment circles.
An award ceremony will be held for all of the winners of the award in December in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, which also marks the 50 anniversary of an international leather fashion company.
Wei Wei, who is now in her 40s, has recently ended her ten-year high-profile marriage to Swedish musician Michael Smith.
The celebrated vocalist will sing the theme song for the 2010 Asian Games, which will be held in south China's city of Guanghzou.
