Chinese FM Expresses Sadness over Death of His Swedish Counterpart

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing sent on Thursday condolences to the Swedish Foreign Ministry over the death of his Swedish counterpart Anna Lindh.

In a message, Li expressed his shock and sadness over Mrs. Lindh's death, and extended condolences to her family. The Chinese foreign minister spoke highly of efforts and contributions made by Mrs. Lindh to promote the Sino-Swedish friendship.

Lindh, 46, died in hospital on Thursday, a day after she was stabbed by an unknown attacker at a department store in Stockholm.
