The 5th Changchun International Sculpture Exhibition opened Sunday in Changchun, displaying more than 100 pieces of sculpture by Chinese and foreign artists.

Culture officials and diplomats from foreign embassies and consulates attended the opening ceremony.

Of the total 103 pieces, 57 sculptors from 51 countries and regions contributed 68 pieces and the rest were made by Chinese artists.

A French woman sculptor said, "We thank the city for its holding of the exhibition, which provides an excellent exchange opportunity for sculptors from all over the world."

The exhibition was initiated in 1997. After the closing of this year's exhibition, there will be a total of 282 pieces of sculpture by artists of over 80 countries to be shown in the city' s parks.
