China's top legislator Wu Bangguo urged Thursday the country to brave out a development path with Chinese characteristics for its modern agriculture.
To that end, China must rev up the development pace of its agricultural science and technology, readjust its agricultural production structure and shift growth modes, said Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress.
Wu made the remarks when inspecting the China Agricultural University and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Thursday.
The solving of problems related to agriculture, countryside and farmers is very important since it's closely related to the overall development of China's economic and social development, he said.
He called for the country to increase investment into the agricultural sector in aspects of education, technologies, talents and innovations.
