Celebration of Taiwan Liberation Announced

The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council has unveiled celebration plans for the 60th anniversary of Taiwan's liberation from Japanese rule during World War II.

Spokesman Li Weiyi noted that the celebration will show the joint efforts made by people from the mainland and Taiwan against Japanese aggression, and their determination to defuse separatist attempts in Taiwan.

The spokesman said a commemorative conference, to be attended by representatives from all walks of life in Beijing, would be held in the Great Hall of the People on October 25 and a reception would be held that evening.

Meanwhile, the official said an exhibition on Taiwan compatriots' efforts against Japanese rule would be held at the National Museum of China from October 24 to November 6.

He added that China Central Television would broadcast related feature programs in late October.
