Nepali King Gyanendra said his talks with Chinese leaders will further consolidate the friendly ties between Nepal and China, and will help make the bilateral relations more practical and result-oriented, the state-run Radio Nepal reported Friday.
"The talks and discussions held with Chinese President Jiang Zemin, Premier Zhu Rongji and other Chinese friends have further consolidated the friendly ties so happily existing between the Kingdom of Nepal and China since many years and will help make these ties more practical and result-oriented in keeping with the 21st century," King Gyanendra said in a message to the countrymen on Thursday night upon returning from China after his state visit.
"During the visit to various places in China, first-hand information was acquired on the achievements made by China in the scientific, technological, economic and social fields in a very short time," the King noted, adding that "we experienced the feeling that there was nothing that could not be achieved if there is determination, discipline and dedication."
He also expressed heartily thanks to Chinese President Jiang and the Chinese government and people for the welcome and hospitality accorded to him during his stay in China.
The Chinese leaders called for further deepening the ties between the two neighbors and agreed to continue China's assistance in Nepal's economic development and stability during the talks between the two sides, said Nepali Health Minister Sarat Singh Bhandari, who accompanied the king to visit China, in a press conference at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
Nepali King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev paid a state visit to China on July 9-15 at the invitation of President Jiang Zemin.
