Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister Youssef Wali said Monday in Cairo that Egypt hopes to promote high-tech cooperation with China.
Wali made the remark during a meeting with a delegation from the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, which is led by its Mayor Yu Youjun.
Pointing to a deep friendship and good cooperation between the two countries, Wali said that during his visit to China in January, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak made an inspection tour of some high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen.
President Mubarak's tour to Shenzhen represented Egypt's desire to learn from China in terms of science and technology and promote high-tech cooperation between the two countries, Wali said.
He also briefed the delegation on the development of Egypt's agricultural and telecommunication sectors.
For his part, Yu said that Shenzhen is willing to share its experience with Egypt in terms of economic development as well as science and technology.
He said that his delegation includes presidents of some high-tech companies in Shenzhen, who would like to exchange views with their Egyptian counterparts on cooperative projects.
Later in the day, the delegation traveled to the Mubarak City of Science near the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria.
