Chinese Vice-Premier: SIP Becomes Successful Model

Visiting Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing said Wednesday in Singapore that the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP )has become a successful model of friendly cooperation between China and Singapore.

Li Lanqing made the remarks when he met with Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore senior minister in prime minister's office.

Li said that both China and Singapore are confident that the SIP will have a bright future, adding that through joint efforts, the two countries will further develop the economic, technological,educational and cultural cooperation and exchanges in order to strengthen friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Li said that capital, management and high quality talent are badly needed in China, the Chinese side is willing to further expand beneficial economic cooperation with Singapore.

Meanwhile, Lee Kuan Yew said the SIP has been developing very rapidly since the shareholding ratio change in January last year. He said that more and more high quality foreign investors will flow in the SIP after China's WTO accession.

Both sides also expressed their desire to cooperate in the field of talent training and exchanges.
