Beijing Mayor Meets Belgian Guests

The Chinese capital aims to become an international city with a better flow of information, widely-opened market and a rule-of-law society in the near future, Beijing Mayor Liu Qi said Sunday.

While meeting with Francois-Xavier de Donnea, mayor of Brussels, capital of Belgium, Liu said that Beijing would promote relations with overseas regions, including Brussels, to achieve its development goals.

Francois-Xavier de Donnea, minister-president of the Region of Brussels, is in Beijing for the ongoing 5th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo, which was described by Liu Qi as a window for Beijing's high-technology industry as well as a platform for international exchanges and cooperation.

Beijing and Brussels set up sistership ties in 1994.
