China Welcomes US-Russia's Arms Cut

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Kong Quan said on Tuesday that China welcomed the United States and Russia's achievement in negotiating a reduction in their nuclear arms.

Kong said in the regular foreign ministry press briefing that the countries owning the biggest nuclear arsenals had cause to make disarmament a priority.

China hoped the two countries would make further efforts to cut their nuclear arsenals, and hoped the reduction would be made according to law and open to examination, thus making further progress in international nuclear disarmament, the spokesman noted.
