Japanese Delegation Visits Southwest China

The economic development of southwest China's Guizhou Province is impressive, a visiting politician from Saga prefecture of Japan said Thursday in Guiyang, capital of the province.

Yasushige Miyazaki, heading a delegation from the Japan-China Friendship Association in Saga prefecture, made the remark when meeting with Wang Zhengfu, Vice-Governor of Guizhou Province Thursday.

Wider exchanges between local governments of China and Japan would promote friendship between the two peoples, Miyazaki added.

Wang said that with the help of central government, Guizhou Province had made great progress in infrastructure construction and environmental protection.

The provincial government hoped for further cooperation and exchanges with the Saga prefecture to broaden frequent personnel exchanges since 1999, he added.

The delegation donated five million yen to a local primary school in a bid to help poor students and their families.

The delegation arrived in Guizhou on May 7 and will leave here Friday.
