Meeting between senior UN officials and a group of Israeli experts on the fact-finding team to Jenin camp was suspended, a UN spokesman said Thursday.
"The meeting was suspended, and we are waiting for answers from the Israeli side if they would resume the meeting at 20:30 tonight or tomorrow," spokesman Fred Eckhard told a swamp of reporters who are waiting at the UN headquarters since the meeting began at 16:00 Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Security Council had agreed to put off a vote ona draft resolution introduced Wednesday by Syria on behalf of the Arab Group. Eckhard said at a routine noon briefing that the council is "preferring to wait until the Secretariat meets with the Israeli delegation this afternoon."
Under Secretary-General for Political Affairs Kieran Prendergast headed the UN team, which also included Legal Counsel Hans Corell, Assistant Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Hedi Annabi and Military Adviser General Timothy Ford.
