Chinese President Jiang Zemin had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the latter's request on Wednesday, according to China's Foreign Ministry.
Jiang, who is paying a state visit to Tunisia, discussed with Putin key issues of common concern, including world peace and security, the role of the United Nations, and a summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization which will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia.
