Fourteen Killed, 70 Injured in South Indian Accidents

At least 14 persons were killed and more than 70 injured in two different road accidents in south Indian state of Tamil Nadu Sunday, police said.

While nine persons were killed and 34 injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Mecheri near Salem, another accident at Muneerpallam in Tirunelveli district, involving a collision between two trucks, claimed five lives and left 35 injured.

The injured had been admitted to nearby hospitals, according to the Press Trust of India.
