Chinese Premier Leaves for ASEAN Meeting

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji left Beijing Sunday for Brunei to attend the 5th leaders' meeting between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) ("10+3") and the leaders' meeting between ASEAN and China ("10+1").

Zhu will also pay an official visit to Indonesia.

Zhu is making the tour at the invitation of Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

During the leaders meetings, Zhu will also attend the informal meeting between leaders of China, Japan and ROK.

Among those who saw Zhu and his party off were Vice Premier Qian Qichen and diplomatic envoys of the two countries.
