Military Plane Crashes in Wuhan

A military plane "Jian-7" returning from training crashed on June 30 at a site 80 kilometers away from Wuhan City of Hubei Province, causing a death and an injury on the ground and burning down two civil houses, while the pilot escaped and landed safely. 

The accident is reportedly caused by aircraft malfunction during a thunderstorm.

It is learned later that the aircraft belongs to the air force of Guangzhou area command. At 16:50, on its way back to a military airport after training, the aircraft encountered a thunderstorm. Two children were happened playing at the spot where the plane fell down. One of them, 12 years old, died later from breath failure caused by the burn of crash flame, and the other was slightly injured.

Related officials of Wuhan rushed to the spot for rescue after the accident happened, and visited families of the victims.
