A bus fell into lake earlier Wednesday in east China's Jiangxi province, killing 21 passengers.

A bus numbered C07242 fell into the Fairy Lake at 12:45 pm in Jiangxi's Xinyu City while avoiding another vehicle. A total 29 passengers were on board, all residents of Pingxiang County in Jiangxi who were going to a temple in Xinyu to pay homage and pray for blessing.

Local police confirmed 21 passengers were drowned to death and eight escaped.

Bodies of the 21 dead have been found and the survivors under proper arrangements made by local government.

Causes for the accident are under investigation.
