Crisis Should Be Dealt with Not Cover

Local officials should try to deal with various crises and solve problems as soon as possible instead of trying to cover them.

Deputy Director of the Information Office under the State Council Wang Guoqing made the remarks while visiting Chongqing in Southwest China.

Wang Guoqing said that in the modern world every day can bring a new crisis but it can be quickly assessed by means of the internet and other modern communication methods.

He said local officials should take proactive measures to release true, authoritative and timely information to the press.

Furthermore the local government should let the public know the nature of a specific crisis and how the government is dealing with this crisis. This will be helpful for the public in its understanding of the situation.

Finally, a spokesperson shouldn't treat journalists as subordinates, students, friends or enemies, but as a challenge to their ability to give clear information..
