Police Appeal to Public over University Slayings

The Chinese Ministry of Public Security on Monday issued an urgent appeal for a man in connection with the killings of four students at a university hall of residence in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Feb. 23.
  
Ma Jiajue, 23, is being sought in connection with the killings. He was born in Binyang County, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and was a student of biochemistry at Yunnan University.
  
The notice said Ma was 1.71 meters tall, had a square face, with high cheekbones, sunken eyes and a prominent lower lip. It also gave his ID card number and the numbers of two other cards belonging to two of the dead students.
  
The Ministry of Public Security is offering a 200,000 yuan (US$24,300) reward for information leading to his apprehension. People who know his whereabouts must call police without delay and those who fail to disclose information would be prosecuted, it said.
  
Four university students were found dead in a dormitory in Yunnan University on Feb. 23.  All the bodies had injuries consistent with a blunt metal object.
