Beijing organizers will unveil the emblem for the 2008 Olympic Games early next month. The Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee says the Market Plan Agreement that covers all marketing activities concerning the Olympics will be officially launched in September.
Vice President of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympics Jiang Xiaoyu said on Monday that a full implementation of the market plan agreement is the top priority of their work in the latter half of this year.
Jiang said, "The Market Plan Agreement was signed by the International Olympic Comittee on June 30. We'll launch the MPA in September."
Jiang also said the IOC gave its approval of the emblem in March. The unveiling of the emblem was originally scheduled for May 25, but the outbreak of SARS in Beijing postponed the unveiling to August.
Jiang said that the inaugural Olympic Culture Festival, previously scheduled for late June in Beijing, will be held in September.
This Sunday, July 13, marks the second anniversary of Beijing's Olympic bid triumph. The Chinese capital is now planning a series of celebrations on that day. About 10,000 people will take part in a run, and a variety of cultural and recreational shows are to be held in most of the city's parks. Meanwhile, more than 30 gymnasiums and stadiums will be open to the public at half price.
