Airport Reopens After Plane Skids off Runway in NE China
The Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport in northeast China's Liaoning Province resumed normal operations Monday night after a passenger plane skidded off the runway Monday noon, airport sources said.

Flights have been resumed gradually, Gao Guangwen, an official at the airport, told Xinhua over the telephone.

A China Southern Airlines MD-82 passenger plane from Shanghai skidded more than 20 meters off the runway while attempting to land at about 12:25 Beijing Time Monday.

No crew members or passengers were injured, but the airport was shut down temporarily.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but preliminary findings indicate that the rainy weather may be to blame.
