Hong Kong SAR Govt to Study Fight Crime Suggestions
The biennial Fight Crime Conference of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was held Saturday to study fight crime suggestions.

The conference, organized by the Fight Crime Committee (FCC), aimed at encouraging community participation in the fight.

Tung Chee Hwa, chief executive of the Hong Kong SAR, and more than 400 FCC and District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) members attended the conference.

The theme of this year's conference - "A Safe City Builds on a United Front Against Crime" - highlights the importance of concerted community efforts in the fight against crime to uphold Hong Kong as a safe and secure city.

Views and recommendations put forward at the conference will be taken into account by the FCC and the government in formulating fight crime policies.

The conference also served to reinforce communication between the FCC and the DFCCs, and to provide a forum for exchanging views on ways to reduce crime.

Five groups, comprising members of DFCCs across the SAR, held separate sessions prior to the conference to discuss a wide range of issues covering burglary and home security, youth crime, computer-related crime and fraud, family violence, theft and deception.
