A total of 799,567 accidents happened during the first nine months of this year in China with 99,820 people killed. The death toll includes 80,670 people who were killed in traffic accidents.
From January to September, 2,584 accidents occurred in coal mines throughout China, killing 4,498 people.
From January to October 20, a total of 99 serious accidents killing more than 10 people each in China, 10.8 percent less than the figure for the same period last year. The death toll was 1,831, down 13 percent.
There were six accidents each causing more than 30 deaths -- a year-on-year reduction of 57 percent. A total of 411 people were killed in such accidents -- 36 percent lower than last year.
