China to Become Largest German Export Market in Asia
China will take over Japan as the largest Asian market for German exports next year, the German Industry and Trade Council (DIHK) said Tuesday.

In its autumn survey, DIHK noted that China's mainland will continue to show robust growth, while Japan is only expecting a slight economic improvement next year.

The DIHK said that it foresees a 10 percent rise in exports toChina this year - after the huge 27.5 percent growth in 2001 - to be followed by a 5 percent expansion next year.

German exports to China's mainland in 2003 are projected at nearly 14 billion Euros (US$13.7 billion), compared with 11 billion Euros (US$10.8 billion) to Japan, the DIHK said.
