The national flag of China was raised Friday morning at the athletes' village in honor of the Chinese sports delegation for the 14th Asian Games.
While extending gratitude to the warm reception from the host, Yuan Weimin, chef de mission of the Chinese delegation, said that they would join hands with other delegations to make the regional games a great success.
"In accordance with the spirit of fair play, we will work with other delegations to create sound atmosphere and make the Asiad a sporting gala of unity, friendship and progress for the 3.7 billion Asians,” he said.
Village mayor Wang Sang-eun also extended his welcome to the visitors, wishing their success on the field and happy life at the port city.
"I also wish the 2008 Olympics in Beijing a great success,” said Wang.
China, which has dominated the regional Olympics for long, sends a more than 900-strong delegation, the biggest ever for China at the Asiad.
