Tropical storm Megkhla is expected to bring torrential rains to the south China provinces of Hainan and Guangdong and to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Thursday, warned the China Central Meteorological Station Thursday morning.

Megkhla hit Sanya County of southern Hainan with strong gales around 6:30 pm Wednesday. At 5:00 am Thursday, the center of the storm was located in Dongfang city, Hainan, at 18.9 degrees north latitude and 109 degrees east longitude.

As the storm center moved northwestward about at 10 kilometers per hour, the station said, it would soon arrive in the Beibu Gulf, and then approach the southern coastal area of Guangxi region.
