Two people died and 32 were injured in a landslide which took place about 1:40 pm Wednesday in a village in Shenzhen of Guangdong Province, south China.
A dozen illegally built shelters halfway up a hill where the victims stay were buried by mud, according to sources.
Some 580 police, armed police, soldiers and government workers as well as eight ambulances were sent to the site for rescue work.
Sources said the site in Luoyukeng, Minzhi village, was a disused dump for trash soil. The landslide was caused by continuous heavy rain in the last few days.
The local government has ordered a thorough check of such illegal and unsafe buildings against danger.
