Wu Jianmin: spokesman for CPPCC National Committee

Wu Jianmin has been appointed the spokesman for the First Plenary Session of the Eleventh National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which is scheduled to open on March 3.

The appointment came at Monday's meeting of the presidium of the CPPCC National Committee, which was chaired by its chairman Jia Qinglin, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau.

A series of important issues were discussed and adopted at the meeting, including the draft of the agenda for the forthcoming plenum.

Zheng Wantong, secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, Du Qinglin, head of the United Front Department of the CPC Central Committee, and three deputy secretary-generals of the CPPCC National Committee Zhang Chonghui, Li Changjian, and Lu Changhua made explanations on related issues at the meeting.

Present at the meeting were vice chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Zhongyu, Liao Hui, Liu Yandong, Li Guixian, Zhang Siqing, Bai Lichen, Luo Haocai, Zhang Kehui, Zhou Tienong, Hao Jianxiu, Abulaiti Abudurexiti, Xu Kuangdi, Li Zhaozhuo, Huang Mengfu, Zhang Huaixi, Li Meng, Tung Chee Hwa, Zhang Meiying and Zhang Rongming.
