The former home of Cai Yuanpei, President of Peking University from 1916 to 1927 and from 1929 to 1930, is now open to the public in Shanghai in celebration of the celebrated educator's 140th birth anniversary.
The Xinhua News Agency reported on Friday that the third floor of the house was refitted and refurbished to recall its former appearance.
More than 120 items used by Cai are on display for the first time. They were all donated by Cai's family members and students.
Cai Yuanpei was the leading liberal educator of early twentieth-century China.
