Gas poisoning kills six, sickens five in Henan

Six people were killed and five others sickened in a gas poisoning which occurred on Saturday in central China's Henan Province, local government officials said on Sunday.

The accident took place in the residential area of Wuyang Iron and Steel Company in Pingdingshan City, when a pipeline renovation was underway. Work began without notifying the local residents, according to initial investigation.

The five sickened have been out of danger, according to the Pingdingshan city government.

No further detailed information was available.
