The Macao Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has made its eighth rotation of troops in this special administrative region (SAR) since 2000, according to military sources.
The troop rotation was carried out in the early hours on Friday, to avoid disturbing residents, the sources said.
The PLA garrison is rotated once every year in accordance with the Macao Garrison Law and regulations regarding the rotation of PLA troops in Hong Kong and Macao SARs.
This year's rotation has not brought about any change to the amounts of personnel and military equipment.
In December of 1999, China resumed its sovereignty over Macao and began deploying troops at the PLA Macao Garrison.
Macao, known for its booming gambling business, has experienced remarkable social and economic development since then.
