On September 5, the State Administration of Radio Film and Television issued a circular that criticized vulgar sex programs on Sichuan People's Radio and Chengdu People's Radio and ordered its subordinate authorities to check and stop such programs.
According to the document, the two-or-three-hour-long sex programs full of both pornographic and obscene language on these two radio stations were harmful to the public, especially to minors.
The programs were banned immediately and the offenders will be held accountable.
The circular stipulated that all TV and radio stations are forbidden to broadcast any unmoral and unscientific programs, and all illegal programs must be cancelled immediately.
The circular also urged related authorities to create a civilized and cultured social environment for the public. Meanwhile, it suggested launching a national campaign to examine program quality.
