A householder in Liujiahan Village of Hunan's Shaoyang County was spreading knowledge of law door to door on May 10 to build a harmonious new village.
The village used to be known for disorder. In early 2002, the county's civil affairs and discipline supervision departments organized the village to publicize its administration and set up a council to discuss and comment on administrative affairs.
In the past two years, the village kept its administration open to local residents and the villagers abided by laws. Recently, the village was honored as a model of democracy and the rule of law by Hunan provincial civil affairs and judicatory departments.
