Three Miners Remain Missing in Shandong

Rescuers have not yet found the three missing miners from Monday's iron mine cave-in which killed one in eastern Shandong Province, local government said on Wednesday.

Seven miners were trapped when the accident happened at around 3 PM on Monday at the No.1 iron mine of Jiaoyu Mining Co., Ltd. in Tai'an City, according to the provincial coal mine safety bureau.

The rescuers saved four miners, but one died later in hospital.

"New cave-ins, flooding and complicated structure of the mine hampered the rescuer operation, but we would not give up," said an official with the safety bureau who asked not to be identified.

Investigation into the cause of the accident is still underway.
