The essence of China's peaceful rise is a great rejuvenation of Chinese civilization converging with contemporary human civilization, said Zheng Bijian, a senior Chinese theorist in Beijing Friday.
Zheng, chairman of the China Reform Forum, made the above remarks at the Beijing Conference of the Asian Pacific Group of the Trilateral Commission.
Substantial efforts should be made for common development between inheriting tradition and promoting reform and innovation; taking a firm foothold in China and facing outwardly to elsewhere in the world; and between going all out to build a harmonious China and spurring to constructing a harmonious world, Zheng said.
In China's modernization process, we should showcase glories in the Chinese civilization and portray the new images of the Chinese nation, so as to advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation that loves peace, honors credit, cherishes harmony and befriends all the others, Zheng noted.
The Trilateral Commission Pacific Asia Group Beijing Regional Conference opened here Friday afternoon.
Representatives from North American and European Union nations and Asia-Pacific countries convened to confer and exchange ideas on the global implications of China's rise.
