Two railway workers were killed and three others injured by a passing train en-route from Harbin to Beijing Sunday in northeast China's Jilin Province, railway authorities confirmed on Monday.
The three injured workers are being treated at a local hospital, said the Changchun liaison office of the Shenyang Railway Bureau.
A spokesman with the office said the victims are all staff members of the Electronic Engineering Bureau of China Railway Group.
"They were working at 163 kilometers of the Beijing-Harbin Railway in Caijiagou township of Fuyu county in the city of Songyuan when the train passed by at around 8:30 AM, sending two of them off the ground," he said. "The two hit their colleagues and injured three of them when they finally fell to the ground."
The section of the railway where they were working opened to traffic only last Thursday and was still under maintenance, the spokesman told Xinhua.
Investigation is going on.
