China will spend 11 billion yuan (about US$1.37 billion) in building six meteorologic projects during the 2006-2010 period, according to sources with the national meteorologic bureau.
The six projects cover weather disaster monitoring, response to climatic changes, exploitation of atmospheric water resources, new-generation weather radars, meteorologic satellites, and computer centers.
Experts hold that upon completion of the six projects, the country will see great improvement in weather monitoring, forecast and service, as well as the capability of combating risks.
