Trade Unions from the Chinese mainland, Hong kong, Macao and Taiwan gathered in Beijing Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the world's victory against Fascism.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative conference, met with the representatives of trade unions from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
"We commemorate the grand victory to remember history and past, cherish peach and explore future," said Jia, "As China is experiencing a unprecedented moment for development, we should carry forward the wartime spirit to march for the revitalization of the Chinese nation."
Jia also spoke highly of trade unions from both sides of the Taiwan Straits for having taken in-depth cooperation and exchanges in recent years, and pined hope to them for further cooperation.
For long, he added, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions has conducted an extensive and deep-going exchanges and cooperation and enhanced mutual understanding and friendship trade unions and labor circles of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.
Nearly 500 representatives attended the meeting.
