Two Injured in Building Fire in Hunan

Two people were injured in a fire that occurred in a commercial building in Changsha, capital city of central China's Hunan Province, early Monday, local police said.

Firemen rescued more than 30 people from the on-fire four-story Xiaoyuan Commercial Mansion, which faces the Changsha Railway Station across the street.

No death was reported by 9:50 a.m. The two injured hurt themselves when they jumped to the ground from the second floor.

The fire broke out at the ground floor of the building at around 6:00 a.m. and spread to the second floor, where large amount of electric appliances and shoes are stored, resulting in a dense smog.

It is learned that the four-story building houses many stores and hostels. Corridors are blocked by different stores and hostels, adding difficulties to the efforts to eliminate the fire, rescuers said.

The local fire department dispatched 17 fire engines to put out the fire. Firemen are continuing their efforts inside the building.
