Two workers were killed and two others were seriously injured in a fire that broke out at a shopping plaza under construction in Dalian, in northeast China's Liaoning Province, on Sunday morning.

The fire broke out in the 12-story Dalian Kaixuan Plaza at about 11:30 AM. Two workers died in the blaze. Another two were seriously injured after they jumped out of the building to escape the fire.

The fire was put out by about 1:00 PM, according to a source with the city's fire control department.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are underway.
