On September 9, 1945, China's war against Japan formally ended when the Japanese government surrendered at a ceremony in China. Sixty years on, in Nanjing, the THEN national capital, veterans from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan came to commemorate the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

60 years ago, the Japanese government signed the capitulation at a signing ceremony right here at this hall. 60 years later, veterans from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan are getting together to remember the moment, as well as those who died in the war.

At the signing ceremony hall, people applauded those who fought in the war. These veterans and these who witnessed the event can still remember the moment clearly.

Witness Wang Chuying said, "At 9:07am, 60 years ago, I saw Okamura Teiji bowing his head, signing the capitulation by shaking hands."

The veterans also visited the Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders and paid tribute to the three hundred thousand people who died in the war. They tolled the huge bell and laid down a wreath to pay their respect.
