Two people were killed and another 33 injured in a major highway accident in Yiyang County, east China's Jiangxi Province, on Sunday night, local police sources said.

The accident happened on a freeway connecting Liyuan in Yushan County and Wenjiazhen of Jinxian County, both in Jiangxi Province, around 7 PM when a bus, registered in neighboring Zhejiang Province, bumped into the road divider on account of overspeed and rolled over at a place five meters below the roadbed.

All the injured are under medical treatment at two hospitals in Yiyang County.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
