Kins of Killed Chinese Businessman Leave for Johannesburg

Three relatives of the Chinese businessman Feng Gelun, who was killed in a robbery in South Africa on Sunday, left for Johannesburg Wednesday to handle the aftermath.

Feng Yuening, Feng's father and Song Jingui, their business partner, who were both injured in the robbery, were out of danger now, according to the public security department in the Fengs' hometown, Nanning, capital of South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The three people were attacked at 3 PM Sunday (local time) at the welding electrode factory they invested in Johannesburg. Feng Gelun was shot dead at the site and his father was shot wounded at the left shoulder, said Yang Hui, an official with the Chinese Embassy in South Africa.

Yang said this is a robbery case and the robbers were at large.

People in the Fengs' hometown showed great sympathy to the family.

Feng Gelun's grandmother has been sent to hospital after she heard the sad news. "Although we told her that her son and grandson were just wounded, the old women was so sad that her health condition is really bad," said an woman, who was arranged to take care of Feng Gelun's grandmother.

"I feel very sorry for the victims and I hope the robbers could be caught as soon as possible," said Tan Xiyin, a citizen of Nanning.
