Two suspects charged with producing and distributing drugs went to court Monday, the Information Times reported.
Huang Ruiqiang, 40, and 48-year-old Hong Kong resident Yiu Shuk-kin were detained in July last year in Fangcun District.
Prosecutors said Huang and Yiu had used three deserted four-floor buildings in Fangcun as their production base since June 2004.
Prosecutors said local police became suspicious when all the windows were covered by newspapers, and the three buildings used a large amount of electricity and about 30 tons of water within a week.
The prosecution said a police investigation found a group, involving the two on trial, was using the buildings to make methamphetamines.
Police are still looking for one man surnamed Wang, who allegedly raised money for production and supply of raw chemical materials, and Liang who was allegedly responsible for selecting appropriate places for the production. Huang and Yiu were in charge of providing drug production technology, transportation of raw materials and drug distribution.
Prosecutors said the gang produced 2 kilograms of methamphetamine, also known as "ice" a day.
On July 22, 2004, a special force formed by Fangcun police arrested Huang and Yiu when the two suspects tried to transport "ice" from their production base for distribution.
Police also seized 16.55 kilograms of "ice," 8.825 kilograms of partially completed "ice," some raw chemicals for producing the drug and a large amount of producing equipment.
The Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court will announce the verdict later this week.
