An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted Ilan of Taiwan at 3:08 a.m. Sunday (1908 GMT Saturday).
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the epicenter was initially determined to be at 24.6 degrees of north latitude and 121.8 degrees of east longitude, about 50 kilometers southeast of Taipei.
