More than 100 workers in Bao'an District were poisoned by food served by a restaurant Saturday night, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
A total of 96 workers were taken to the Shajing People's Hospital for emergency treatment Sunday morning. One poisoned worker said at least 200 people had eaten food provided by the restaurant that day. He said the others were taken to small private clinics as the hospital could not take all the patients.
The workers, from Xindongyi and Gonghegangyi factories in Shajing in Bao'an, had symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain Sunday morning.
The three-floor Sichuan cuisine restaurant was closed by the district government. Samples were taken from the restaurant for examination Sunday afternoon. Police and health and epidemic prevention officials are investigating.
