Siemens AG's mobile group on Wednesday said it had signed a US$35.9 million deal with China Mobile Communications Corporate Ltd.
Under the agreement, the Siemens Information and Communication Group will help the Chinese company expand its mobile network into the provinces and municipalities of Anhui, Shanghai and Zhejiang. Siemens will enhance the network's capacity by providing Power CPs, which are high-performance processors for switching systems, and expanding the network's base stations.
"As one of the world's largest mobile markets, China is naturally of vital importance for our network business," Christoph Caselitz, president of the networks division at Germany-based Siemens mobile, said in a statement.
