China will host the 39th World Advertising Convention in Beijing early this September.
It is the first time for the country to play host for this event, held every two years.
The 4-day meeting aims to forecast trends in international advertising and promote exchanges and cooperation between domestic and overseas advertising companies.
Over the past two decades, China's advertising industry has had an average annual growth rate of 40 percent, becoming one of the most dynamic sectors in the world.
The country has approved the establishment of advertising companies, in which foreign capital dominates.
Wholly Foreign-funded enterprises will be allowed into this field at the end of next year. (CRI April 9, 2004)
